Liberty Stone is the concept which not only includes the stone that held the copper for The Statue of Liberty, but also the fantastic history about Vigsnes: the history of building an industrial adventure and, for its time, a modern manufacturing society that provided the foundation for the world’s most meaningful statue.  
The first epoch in the adventure of Vigsnes drew to a close a short time after the unveiling of The Statue of Liberty by the French, as the urban center disappeared.  But in the same way that the radiance of Lady Liberty exists beyond the present moment, the Liberty Stone represents her eternity, rooted in a deep mine in Vigsnes, Karmøy in Norway.

In 2006 the board of directors of Vigsnes Mining Area entered into an agreement with AUSTI to help bring awareness of Vigsnes and its history to the public.  It was decided that elegantly designed commemorative collectibles based on ore samples from the mines and historical information on its connection to the Statue of Liberty would be desirable.  The Liberty Stone was born.
